Keira Duncan gets some airtime on his way to his second KZN title of the weekend

KARKLOOF – Keira Duncan wrapped up a near-perfect weekend when the Karkloof Country Club trail master secured his second home-town win in two days on Sunday by adding the KZN Downhill title to the Enduro Championships he won on Saturday.

The two-day gravity racing portion of the Sappi Karkloof Classic Trail Festival wrapped up on Sunday with Duncan convincingly winning the downhill race, just 24 hours after he was a comfortable winner of the enduro.

Duncan's two remarkably consistent runs were the two fastest of the day, meaning he was able to claim a comfortable eight-second win over young Troy Cole with Caleb Sandeman securing third, with his first run down the technical Absa Karkloof Country Club course.

Matt Armstrong recovered from a disastrous first attempt to finish fourth, while Shamser Essop rounded out the top five.

In the women's event, Sabine Thies entered just a couple of hours before entries closed on Thursday, but there was nothing slow about her runs down the course on Sunday. Like Duncan, she produced the fastest two attempts at the course in her two runs for a solid win over Amber Cole, with Leah Sophie Mitchell ending third.
